Exploring AI Integration in Local Journalism : Vivica Dsouza

On March 25, the Center for Digital Scholarship hosted its Spring Student Showcase at Northeastern University, featuring ongoing research from students across various labs and centers.

At the showcase, Vivica presented a brief overview of ongoing research on AI adoption in local newsrooms. The presentation explored how editors and reporters are gradually integrating AI tools into their workflows, including shifts in decision-making, evolving practices, and emerging ethical considerations.

As the study is ongoing, it was presented as an example of industry-engaged research, highlighting its real-world impact and the valuable insights gained from working closely with active newsroom environments. She also discussed contributions to the project, including survey design, transcript cleaning, and development of the AIMES Lab webpage.
